Gabrielle Ledesma, an undergraduate student majoring in geology, received a Dean’s High Impact Undergraduate Research Award to work with Dr. Elizabeth Swanner, assistant professor of geological and atmospheric sciences, this summer. Ledesma has been helping to look at how microbial communities impact the iron and carbon cycles in the anoxic environments of midwest lakes.
