Congratulations to Dr. Beth Caissie, assistant professor in geology, who was just awarded an NSF grant to compile sea ice records from the North Pacific for the past several glacial-interglacial cycles. The idea is to figure out how sea ice decreases when the earth warms due to natural changes. The official title is, “When the Earth Warms: Paleoceanography at the Southern Ice Margin in the Bearing Sea During Three Glacial-Interglacial Transitions” and the grant is for $500,433.
